History

The November Classic has a long and interesting history. The first event took place on 24th November 1968 at Millyford Bridge, organised by Merry Oak School, Southampton.

Southampton Orienteering Club was formed shortly after and the Classic became the club’s flagship event. The November Classic is the UK’s longest running annual club orienteering event.

This area of the website is an ongoing project. We are hoping to include all sorts of material about the event over the years. If you have any information, photos or anecdotes about the November Classic please let us know. Your contact point is Pete Davis – publicity@socweb.org
